Nawazuddin Siddiqui hired detectives to spy on his estranged wife

A few months ago, Nawazuddin Siddiqui had found himself in the midst of a controversy when he made some shocking revelations about his personal life in his biography titled ‘An Ordinary Life.’ Due to this, the actor had the pull off the book from the shelves.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s name has cropped up in the Call Detail Records racket, after he allegedly sought his wife’s phone records. The Thane Crime Branch summoned the actor, but Nawazuddin had yet to show up by late evening.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lawyer had got the phone call records of Siddiqui’s wife from people involved in the illegal procurement of call data records (CDR) for Rs 50,000, said the crime branch which is probing the case.

The police claimed that the presence of media personnel had deterred Siddiqui from appearing before them. They also refused to give the name of the actor’s wife.

The crime branch has so far arrested 11 accused in the CDR racket, including a constable from Yavatmal, and Rajni Pandit, who is regarded as the first woman detective in the country. During the course of the investigation, Nawazuddin’s name surfaced as well. “While screening the devices of one of the accused, we found Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s name. Nawaz had sought his wife’s CDR,” said a police source.

“He is among hundreds of people who have been called for questioning. He will be questioned about his association with these detectives, and how he got in touch with them. We need his detailed statement,” said a police officer.
